Newport Still Behind On Yard Waste Pickup After Tropical Storm

Waste Management is expected to catch up on yard waste pickup by midweek, the city said in a statement.

NEWPORT, RI — With delays and increased demand from Tropical Storm Henri, the city of Newport is still catching up on yard waste pickup.

Waste Management is expected to catch up on pickups by the middle of the wake, the city said in a statement. Anyone who has not had their waste picked up yet is asked to leave it at the curb.

Yard waste should be bagged, canned or bundled for easy pickup. Paper bags and trash cans are acceptable. Any yard waste in a plastic bag will not be collected. Branches must be less than four inches in diameter and no more than three feet long.

Larger tree branches, brush and stumps can be brought to the Waste Management transfer station for disposal.
