Newport's 2022 Yard Waste Collection Schedule
With temperatures warming up, many Rhode Islanders are getting ready to clear out their yards and gardens.
BRISTOL-WARREN, RI — Spring weather is finally here in Rhode Island, leading many residents to plan their gardens and start cleaning up yard debris from the winter months. Although the warmer temperatures appear to be here to stay, Newport residents have a few weeks to wait before weekly yard waste pickup resumes.
After one week of yard waste collection the second week of March, weekly pickups will return starting April 4. Starting in May, yard waste will be picked up every other week through October. The full schedule for 2022 is available on the city's website.
Residents can place their yard waste at the curb for collection on their usual trash day. Waste must be placed in large paper bags or a trash barrel clearly marked "yard waste." Plastic bags will not be accepted. Branches less than four inches in diameter and under three feet long can be bundled at placed alongside bags. Yard waste only stickers are not required, the DPW said.
