Newport's Spouting Rock Beach Again Infected With Bacteria: State
The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing the swim area for the second time in six days.
NEWPORT, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing the swimming area at Spouting Rock Beach Association in Newport for the second time in six days Wednesday due to high bacteria counts.
The department called for a shutdown of the swim area Thursday for the same reason but then cleared it to reopen two days later.
"RIDOH will continue to monitor and review beach water quality through Labor Day," the department said in a media release. "The status of a beach may change as new data become available."
