Parking Ban In Newport For Winter Storm, Trash Delay

A winter weather advisory has been issued as a storm will dump up to 7 inches of snow and cause hazardous travel conditions throughout RI.

NEWPORT, RI — Newport announced a parking ban for Monday, ahead of a winter storm expected to arrive overnight.

The parking ban will be in effect from 11 p.m. Monday until noon, Tuesday.

The town also canceled all trash pickup for Tuesday. The rest of the week will be delayed by one day.

Newport residents can help plows do their job by pulling all trash and recycling carts away from the street, along with basketball hoops or other items that block the street. Also, do not blow snow into the street from driveways.

Snow is expected to arrive overnight, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.

Four to 7 inches of snow is forecasted for Rhode Island. The low Monday night will be 28. Snow will continue into Tuesday, with another 1 to 2 inches of accumulation possible and a high of 36.
