Rhode Island Gas Prices Continue Slow Decline

The average price for a gallon of gas in Rhode Island dropped another five cents over the past week.

Temperatures are on the rise on Rhode Island, but gas prices keep falling across the state. Over the past week, the average cost per gallon fell five cents to $2.67, just one penny higher than the national average of $2.66.

This time last year, gas cost 28 cents more at an average of $2.95 per gallon.

"Filling up at the pump this summer could mean savings as much as a quarter a gallon," said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast Manager of Public Affairs & Traffic Safety. "Cheaper prices could entice motorists to travel more and even take some last minute road trips."
