After weeks of feeling pain at the gas pump, Rhode Islanders are finally starting to see some relief. The average cost for a gallon of unleaded gas dropped three cents in the last week, bringing the price to $2.81. The average price per gallon is 18 cents lower than this time last year, when it was $2.99.

"Gas prices have been trending lower now for the past month and there are no signs of pump prices changing gears toward more expensive for the summer season," said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. "One major indicator supporting this forecast is the price of crude oil, which dropped last week by $6 a barrel, one of the lowest prices of the year."

Across Rhode Island, gas prices range 34 cents from a low of $2.65 to a high of $2.99.
