Rhode Island Gas Prices Fall Another 4 Cents

Gas prices have been on the decline in Rhode Island since mid-July.

Rhode Island's gas prices have been on the decline throughout much of the summer, a trend that is continuing in September. Over the past week, the average price per gallon went down four cents, bringing the average price to $2.52.

The average price in Rhode Island is four cents lower than the national average of $2.56. This time last year, the average cost was considerably higher in the state at $2.86.

"Gasoline demand in early September generally declines along with supplies as refineries undergo maintenance and prepare for the switchover to winter-blend gas," said Diana Imondi, AAA Northeast Manager of Public Affairs & Traffic Safety. "These typical trends mean savings for motorists, leading the way for potentially some of the cheapest gas prices at the end of the year."
