Gas prices are once again on the rise in the Ocean State. According to AAA Northeast, the average cost per gallon in Rhode Island for regular, unleaded gas went up four cents over the past week.

“Increasing demand, fluctuating oil prices, and decreasing supplies have combined to drive gas prices up across the country,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs. “Pump prices may continue to increase in coming weeks, but AAA does not expect this year’s high to be nearly as expensive as last year’s national peak price of $2.97.”

The average cost per gallon in the state is now $2.47, which is 13 cents lower than the cost at the same time last year of $2.53. Across the state, gas prices range 32 cents from $2.27 to $2.59.
