Newport is known for its many restaurants and local businesses. Here's a look at some of the shuttered spots people miss the most.
NEWPORT, RI — Newport is known for its many restaurants and small businesses, catering to seasonal visitors and year-round residents alike. Patch wanted to know which businesses that closed their doors for good are missed the most.
Patch readers had plenty to say. Close to 200 people responded to our callout on Facebook, sharing the businesses they wished would reopen.
Rhode Island fan favorite Benny's was, of course, a popular answer. The Middletown location of the beloved store closed in 2017 as part of the company-wide liquidation process. After sitting empty for several years, the empty store became a COVID-19 mass vaccination site in March 2021.
