'Selfless' Newport Dad Is 'Dedicated To Making Others' Lives Better'

NEWPORT, RI— Father's Day is the perfect time to give a big thanks to all the dads who put smiles on our faces. Newport, meet Keith Edwards Sr.

If you know a dad who sends sweet, silly or thoughtful texts your way, you’re pretty lucky. Texts from Dad have a way of putting a smile on our faces — and this Father’s Day, we’re celebrating the fathers behind the phones!

Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to shine a light on awesome dads and the funny, insightful things they say. This submission comes from Kendra Abat who nominated Keith Edwards Sr of Newport.

What makes your dad extra special?

My dad is one of the most selfless people I know. He worked at Sullivan School for years as a behavioral management specialist and currently does the same at Gaudet Middle School. He has gone out of his way to try to put his students on the right path. Kids request to have special lunch with him where they talk and play chess in his office. He has coached several sports teams and continues to do so today. When former students see him they light up and can’t wait to tell him how they’ve grown and what they’ve been up to. His children are his world and he has guided us through tough situations. He’s truly a great dad and we are lucky to have him!

Why do you feel your dad deserves the spotlight?

His hard work and dedication to making others' lives better is why he deserves the spotlight!
