Snow, Sleet To Bring Slippery End To The Week In RI

RHODE ISLAND — While Rhode Islanders are still digging out of last weekend's blizzard, a little more winter weather is on the way to end the week. A mixture of snow and sleet is expected to make for slippery travel Friday morning.

After a cloudy day Wednesday, rain is expected to move in Thursday, with temperatures rising to the mid-40s. Temperatures will fall towards freezing overnight, becoming wintry mix to start the day Friday.

Rhode Island isn't expected to see the worst of the winter weather, which could bring an additional four to six inches of snow accumulation to parts of Massachusetts. Any snow that does fall in Rhode Island will be little more than a coating.

The rain, snow and sleet mix is expected to taper off later in the day Friday, ahead of a sunny, but cold weekend.

A slight chance of rain after 3 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Light north wind. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

A chance of rain, mainly after 1 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 46. Calm wind becoming southwest 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday Night
Rain. Low around 32. Southwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday
Rain and sleet before 2 p.m., then snow, possibly mixed with sleet. High near 40. North wind 7 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Snow and sleet likely before 8 p.m., then a chance of snow between 8 p.m. and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 17. North wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
