State Health Officials Issue Opioid Overdose Alert For 9 Rhode Island Communities
Opioid overdose alerts were issued in Barrington, Bristol, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, Tiverton, Warren and Jamestown.
RHODE ISLAND — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) on Wednesday issued opioid overdose alerts to nine cities and towns across the Ocean State.
The alert came after a recent increase in non-fatal opioid overdoses in eastern Rhode Island. From Feb. 12 to Feb. 18, state health officials said Barrington, Bristol, Jamestown, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, Tiverton and Warren were above their overdose thresholds.
During the same time period, Providence also reached its threshold of 19 suspected overdoses, according to RIDOH.
