Thames Street To Close Tuesday Between Lee & Underwood Court
National Grid will be excavating in the middle of the street starting at 9 a.m., police said.
NEWPORT, RI—National Grid on Tuesday will be doing maintenance work on the gas main on Thames Street between Lee Avenue and Underwood Court, police said. The crews will be tearing up the middle of the road, so that section of Thames Street will be closed starting around 9 a.m.
Southbound Thames Street traffic will take a detour eastbound on Dearborn Street, across Spring Street, and eastbound on Perry Street, then southbound on Bellevue Avenue, then westbound on Narragansett Avenue to Thames Street.
Police officers will be on details to help direct traffic.
