Trash Pickup Delayed In Newport For Winter Storm
Newport is expected to see three to fours inches of snow accumulation, though there's still uncertainty about final totals.

NEWPORT, RI — With snow in the forecast for Friday, Newport delayed all Waste Management trash pickup for Friday. The transfer station will also be closed all day.
As of Thursday evening, the city had not declared a parking ban for Friday. If a parking ban is issued, parking will be restricted on several city streets. Residents can park in the following lots for free:
- Gateway Visitor's Center
- Mary Street
- Easton's Beach
Snow is expected to arrive overnight, between 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. It is expected to change over from all snow to wintry mix Friday morning, between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the southern half of the state, and between 9 a.m. and noon in the northern half of the state.

When all is said and done, Rhode Island is expected to see between two and eight inches of snow accumulation, with the snowfall amount highest at the top of the state and lower headed further south. The National Weather Service said there is still a lot of uncertainty about these numbers, however, so all of Rhode Island could see different snow totals. Newport is expected to see three to fours inches of snow accumulation.
