U.S. Postal Service Unveiling Pete Seeger Stamp In Newport

NEWPORT, RI — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is launching a new stamp at a ceremony in Newport on Thursday, and the stamp honors a Rhode Island musical legend.

The stamp will depict singer Pete Seeger, who is known for founding the Newport Folk Festival. Seeger's stamp will be unveiled at 8 p.m. at the Janes Pickens Theater, and his son Dan Seeger will also be in attendance.

Pete Seeger is best known for his singles "If I had a Hammer" and "Turn! Turn! Turn!" Pete Seeger died in 2014 at age 94.
