NEWPORT, RI — Crews with the Newport Department of Utilities and water division will begin critical improvements to the city's water system on Spring Street, beginning Monday.
City officials said the improvements will span Spring Street from Narragansett Avenue to Perry Street. It consists of a replacement to the water main, and the department's contractor, Boyle & Fogarty (B & F), anticipates the project will be complete by Oct. 31.

Parking may be restricted in the area during work hours, which are set for 6:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. on weekdays. City officials said local vehicle and pedestrian access to homes will be maintained throughout the project.
