Pawtucket Driver Gave Cops The Slip But Later Caught While Walking: Cops (patch.com) — Pawtucket readers may recognize Smithfield Avenue, where state police say a local driver initially evaded a traffic stop before being found walking and arrested. The 23-year-old Pawtucket man now faces reckless driving, eluding, and suspended-license charges, along with a warrant for failing to appear in an earlier case.
   

2. Pawtucket Woman Lied About Crime: Cops (patch.com) — In a case closely tied to Pawtucket, state police say a 28-year-old city woman turned herself in after allegedly filing a false crime report. She was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned, and released with a future court date in the Sixth Division District Court.

Police arrest 24-year-old man in Pawtucket shooting (turnto10.com) — A man was shot on Pleasant Street in Pawtucket Wednesday night, and police say a 24-year-old city resident has been arrested in connection with the incident. The victim, who knew the suspect, was hospitalized in stable condition. The suspect faces multiple firearm and assault charges and was expected to be arraigned Thursday.
   

4. Rhode Island FC signs forward Leo Afonso (uslchampionship.com) — Rhode Island FC, based in Pawtucket, has signed Brazilian forward Leo Afonso for the 2026 USL Championship season, pending league approval. The 24-year-old brings MLS experience from Inter Miami and Atlanta United, plus a strong college career at Virginia, as the club looks to build another successful campaign at its Pawtucket home.
   

5. Pawtucket receives 6 bids to redevelop Apex property (wpri.com) — Pawtucket officials have received six formal bids to redevelop the long-vacant Apex property, including the pyramid-shaped former department store and nearby riverfront parcels. A six-member committee will now review proposals, with Mayor Grebien promising a project that delivers lasting benefits for Pawtucket residents, businesses, and neighborhoods.
