Here are the top stories in Pawtucket today:

  1. Shore News Network reports Jonathan Reyes of Pawtucket was sentenced to five years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a federal gun charge. He was pulled over in October 2020 and a loaded semi-automatic pistol with an obliterated serial number was found in the car. As Patch previously reported, Reyes is barred from having firearms stemming from a lengthy criminal record that includes multiple arrests for domestic violence charges. (Shore News Network)
  2. GoLocalProv reports it's getting pricier to rent in Rhode Island — especially in Providence, which saw rental prices spike 13 percent in the last year. (GoLocalProv)
  3. Rhode Island Business Daily looked at the length of time it takes for when a patent was filed and when it was granted. For the week ending Aug. 7 in Pawtucket, the longest time between filing and approval was 673 days. The application was filed for a device that stores hoses. (Rhode Island Business Daily)
  4. Patch has the latest job openings in the area, including a truck-driving position in Pawtucket that's advertising earning up to $180,000 a year. (Patch)
