Let's get this day started. Today we have an update in the case of a Pawtucket woman who admitted she killed her ex-boyfriend's mom and then bragged about it on social media. Plus, the popular annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Providence got a new date and the city of Pawtucket has been unable to fill at least a dozen positions within the public works and water departments — some for more than a year.

- Tom Mooney of The Providence Journal reports that a Pawtucket woman pleaded guilty to murdering her ex-boyfriend's mother after the couple had a violent falling out. Shaylyn Moran, 20, was sentenced to life in prison for her involvement in the 2020 killing of 54-year-old Cheryl Smith. Smith was shot several times after opening the door of her Baxter Street home in Pawtucket. Moran reportedly bragged about the killing on social media. (The Providence Journal)
- Amanda Milkovits of The Boston Globe reports that Pawtucket has spent nearly $80,000 to fight a detective's request for leave for post-traumatic stress disorder. (The Boston Globe, requires subscription)
- The Valley Breeze reports that police were searching for a missing Pawtucket teenager who was seen riding a bicycle Thursday night. Police have since announced the teen was located. (The Valley Breeze)
- Jack Perry of The Providence Journal reports that Providence’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which was canceled in 2020 and postponed this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, has been rescheduled for Sept. 18. (The Providence Journal)
- Russ Olivo of the Pawtucket Times reports that no less than a dozen positions in the city's public works and water departments remain vacant. Some haven't been filled for over a year. (Pawtucket Times e-edition)

- The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative says art by longtime member Cynthia DiDonato will appear in a new exhibition. The Wickford Art Association launched Small Works: 'Lil Rhody Art Show & Sale on Friday. The exhibit will be available for in-gallery viewing through Sept. 5.(Facebook)
- The Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket thanked Hasbro for "bringing the sunshine" on a rainy day. Little campers had a blast playing board games and field activities with their employees. (Facebook)
- The Pawtucket Arts Collaborative says it's proud to host a group exhibition by the SaoriWorcester Weaving studio. The show will be in the organization's gallery Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (Facebook)
