Here are the top three stories today in Pawtucket:

  1. During the March 24 meeting, the Pawtucket School Committee voted in favor of a unified high school. The committee is writing a letter to the town council to voice their opinion about this recommendation. This concept has been voted down four times previously. (Valley Breeze)
  2. Pawtucket hosted the launch of the 'Let it Out' mental health campaign, which is a program to help combat a rise in student mental and behavioral health issues. The program encourages students to reach out to trusted adults in their communities and aims to break the stigma of mental health concerns.(Valley Breeze)
  3. A new law was passed last year that anyone who has been wrongfully convicted of a crime can receive $50,000 from the state of Rhode Island for each year they have spent in jail. Paul Courteau, 64, who was wrongfully convicted of armed robbery in 1981 served 15 years in prison, for a crime he didn't commit. Courteau is the first beneficiary of this new law's restitution. He received $557,945 on March 31 for his time behind bars. (WPRI.com)
