A Guide To Main Street Parking
Wojcik: Places to stow your car not as scarce as some may think.
"I would never open a business on Main Street," remarked Councilman Roger Jalette during the Dec. 3 City Council meeting, saying there isn't enough parking on the street.
While there is a municipal lot across from City Hall and another lot across from the Woonsocket Call building and on-street parking, "People would be surprised at the total amount of parking available to service Main Street," said Economic Development Director Matt Wojcik this week.

Wojcik said the city should be doing a better job of directing traffic to those parking places, though. The common parking signs, featuring a white capital "P" on a blue background, aren't used by the city to mark parking areas, he said.
Also, Wojcik said the city hasn't generated the foot traffic or demand on Main Street yet to make a parking garage on Main Street a viable business.
