- The Stop Quick Mart at 814 Diamond Hill Road sold a winning Keno Overtime Ticket. A Woonsocket man bought a $1 ticket and matched all seven numbers. He’s now $100,000 richer. (@RILottery)
- There are numerous school closures taking place Friday. They include Woonsocket public schools (no distance learning), Action Based Enterprises (distance learning), Good Shepherd Regional School (distance learning day), Greater Woonsocket Catholic Regional School System, Beacon Charter HS (no distance learning), Founders Academy (no distance learning), and RISE Prep Mayoral Academy (distance learning day). Preschool and daycare centers that are closed include the Hamlet Learning Center, all Head Start and Day Care locations, and childcare at the YWCA Rhode Island. (Woonsocket Radio)
- The Woonsocket PD announced a parking ban. It began Thursday evening at 11 PM and is expected to last until Friday at 7 PM. The ban takes effect ahead of the expected snowstorm. (@WoonsocketPD)
- Thursday’s press conference outside the DHS office on Pond Street focused on the lack of services residents have. Organizers cited hours-long waiting times “on the phone for people to speak with a DHS staff member.” Offices should reopen “ASAP, consistent with RI COVID-19 safety guidelines. (@EconProgressRI)
- Thursday’s business of the day was Family Discount Furniture at 1081 Social Street.
