Finally Friday Five: Schools Delayed One Hour, Free Tax Help, Nixle, Stadium

Welcome to the pre-weekend stretch, Woonsocket, and check out these things to know:

 

School delays - Most schools in the city are delayed one hour:

  • Woonsocket Public Schools are delayed one hour, no a.m. kindergarten.
  • Beacon Charter High School is delayed one hour.
  • Mount St. Charles is delayed one hour.

FRCA VITA Program - Family Resources Community Action is providing FREE Income Tax Preparation forfamilies with incomes less than $51,000. All preparers are certified by the IRS, andE-filing is done for fast returns. Appointments are available at Family Resources Community Action, 245 Main St., on the following days:

  • Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 12:30 to 4.30 p.m. Tuesdays: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Fridays: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Nixle - After the recent snowstorm the Woonsocket Police and Fire Department  want to send a reminder about Nixle.  During the snowstorm residents received a phone message with information from Nixle.  We are encouraging all residents and interested parties to sign up for Nixle’s OPT IN notification alerts.  You will be able to choose what messages you want to be informed of including emergency alerts, public safety updates, or community event information. You can receive Nixle messages on your cell phone, tablet, or other device.

2013 Stadium brochure -  The updated 2013 season brochures for Stadium Theatre are on their way. Anyone on the mailing list should receive them within the next 10 days! Meanwhile, check it out online.

Porketa - Tickets are now on sale for the Woonsocket Rotary Porketa Monday, March 11, 6 p.m., at the Elks Hall, 368 Social St. They'll put you back $20, and you'llneed to find a rotary member to buy them
