Trash bills due - The City's Solid Waste Division reminds property owners the fourth payment is due for their trash and recycling collection service by today, May 3. Current amounts due must be paid in full. Late payments are subject to penalty fees. For questions concerning your account or if did not receive your current trash fee invoice, call (401) 767-8880.

Globe Park Game Night - Join the Globe Park PTA for Family Game Night and buy-one, get-one free book fair tonight from 6-8 p.m. Connect Four, Operation, Yahtzee, and a LEGO build are some of the diversions offered for parents and kids.

Rabies Clinic May 4 - The Woonsocket Animal Shelter, sponsored by and in conjunction with the RI VMA (RI Veterinary Medical Association) will hold a Rabies Clinic May 4 at Woonsocket Animal Shelter, 105 Cumberland Hill Road from noon to 1:30 p.m. Bring your dogs, cats, and ferrets, and $12 per animal.

The licensing clerk from City Hall will also be there to renew and or issue dog licenses.

Flowers for Michelle - The Flowers for Michelle plant sale fundraiser is Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Leo Savoie School, 990 Mendon Road. Potted annuals will be on sale for $10, with admission to free informational gardening session. Other assorted gifts will be on sale as well. Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund in honor of Michelle Beausoleil, to a graduating senior studying physical therapy.

Hazardous Waste Collection May 11 - Mark May 11 for Hazardous Waste Collection Day in the city. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Woonsocket Public Services Division Facility, 943 River St.

What is Household Hazardous Waste?
A substance is hazardous if it falls into any of the following categories:

•Toxic: poisonous or lethal when ingested, absorbed, touched or inhaled
•Flammable/Combustible: ignites under almost all conditions
•Corrosive/Caustic: deteriorates metal and causes irreversible alteration of livingtissue by chemical action
•Reactive: creates an explosion or produces deadly vapors, such as oil-based paint

Hazardous materials often bear the labels, "Danger", "Warning", "Caution",and "Poison". Many products contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which areextremely hazardous to human health. Misusing or mishandling products can result inserious injury, burns, permanent damage to human tissue and organs, severe illness suchas cancer, and death.

Appointments are recommended and can be obtained by calling 942-1430 extension 241. This collection day is open to all Rhode Island residents. Other items that can also be dropped off are: Propane tanks, car batteries, clothes, books,Styrofoam, rigid plastic, metals, TV’s, all electronics and cardboard.
