Did you see the digging on Cato Street? They found graves! Also, there’s concern that it’s time to look a little more closely at the bullying policy. Finally, the POC dropped off 500 bags of rice at the Buddhist Temple.

  1. What JG Remodeling of Johnston wanted to turn into a duplex on Cato Street is now an archaeological dig. Cemetery volunteers believe to have found three burial shafts from the 1800s. Some say this piece of land may be part of the Baptist Hill Cemetery. In the distant past, its borders “stretched from Arnold Street in the west to Cato and Railroad Streets in the north and south.” Right now, everyone’s mulling over what to do next. (The Valley Breeze)
  2. The school district is taking another look at its bullying policy. There’s a concern that “a return to in-person schooling and the prevalence of social media could be driving up incidents of bullying within the district.” During the School Committee meeting, there was the recommendation to create a bullying subcommittee. So far, the district is following a 2012 RI policy. However, this policy requires a twice-a-year compilation of bullying reports, and so far in 2021 to 2022, there’s only been one incident. (The Valley Breeze)
  3. The Papitto Opportunity Connection (POC) Foundation donated 500 bags of rice to the local Southeast Asian community. The donation was made at the Wat Lao Buddhist Temple, 458 River Street. The POC partnered with the Center for Southeast Asians and the Lao Association of RI. (RI Monthly)
  4. Filming for "Hocus Pocus 2" has begun! If you responded to the call for extras last month, you already know that it’s time to head over to Providence. All others should be aware of possible traffic snarls, but also increased revenues! (Patch)
  5. WalletHub has ranked the best small cities in America. Woonsocket ranks in the 42nd percentile. In the 99th percentile is Sammamish, WA. In the 1st percentile is Pine Bluff, AR. The higher your number is, the better the ranking. (WalletHub)
