Irene Godin: Longtime Communicant of St. Ambrose, Loving Grandmother
Albion woman died March 10 at Oakland Grove.

Irene Godin, 97, of Albion, died Sunday morning at Oakland Grove surrounded by her loving family, according to Menard-Lacouture funeral home.
She was the wife of the late Adrien Godin, Sr.

Born in St. Eugene, P.Q., Canada, she was a daughter of the late Onesime Gendron Sr. and Anna (Norman) Gendron. She was raised in Canada and came to the United States as a child and settled in Albion.
Godin was employed at American Tourister, Berkshire Hathaway and AT Cross in Lincoln during her working years before retiring in 1980.

Irene was a longtime communicant of St. Ambrose Parish and a member of the Manville & Albion Golden Agers, the Royal Travelers and the St. Jeanne D’Arc prayer group.
Irene will be remembered as a loving wife and mother and cherished her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three sons Adrien Godin Jr., and his wife Louise, and Roland Godin, and his wife Nena, all of Lincoln and Paul Godin, and his wife Audrey, of North Smithfield. She was the sister of Rachael Collard of Florida and the late Adrien Gendron, Onesime Gendron Jr., Alexina Lambert and Annette Robert. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Her funeral will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 71 Central St., Manville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church, School St., Albion. Burial will follow in St. Ambrose Cemetery. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.
