Mayor Thanks Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation For Funding Holiday Lights
Fontaine: Local organizations, businesses pulled together to make public celebrations possible.
The city's holiday lights are down, but Mayor Leo Fontaine has made a point of recognizing the generosity of Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Centre, which made turning them on possible.
“First and foremost I want to thank the Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Centre for the financial support that made our Christmas lights possible. The dire fiscal condition of the City has made it very hard to justify any discretionary spending. By stepping up and helping the City keep this tradition alive, Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation has made a strong statement of its commitment to the City and the quality of life experienced by our residents,” Fontaine said in a release sent out Monday.

"We're happy to help," said Chris Corrente, Community Outreach Coordinator at Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation, about the $500 donation. "We welcome any chance to support the city."
This is the first year the business has supported the holiday lights, but, Fontaine said, they have a long-standing reputation for putting the City of Woonsocket first.

Fontaine called Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation an exemplary corporate citizen and also thanked several other local businesses for their support of Woonsocket civic life. "...along with the Friendly Home, the Plastics Group, Oakland Grove Health Center, Mt. St. Rita Health Center, CDM Smith, and another city company that has asked to remain unnamed – we simply could not have delivered many of the public events and modest public property improvements that came about in 2012,” he said.
“As recent public discussion has illustrated, everyone from our local Little Leagues to our largest companies has been pulling together for years to make our City a better place. We spend too little time thanking people in this current environment, but I hope with these words today to make 2013 the year we draw attention to our essential private partners,” Fontaine said.
