  1. Play O-N Radio hosts a "Business of the Day" Contest during the month of January. On Monday, the Business of the Day was Missy's Family Restaurant at 801 Clinton Street. Family-owned, it serves the “best breakfast in Woonsocket.” (@WoonsocketRadio, Missy's)
  2. "Anni and Josef Albers: Art and Life" is currently on display in Paris until Sunday. It is a little-known fact that Anni Albers designed the woven panels for the Congregation B'nai Israel in Woonsocket. You can see them on it website in a photo. (@josefannialbers, B’nai Israel)
  3. A Pawtucket man is charged with “conspiracy to possess 500 grams or more of cocaine with intent to distribute.” He allegedly took possession of “more than a kilogram of cocaine” that was shipped in an old television from Colombia. Authorities say that this was the second such shipment they intercepted. (US News)
  4. Burrillville BASE and The FANG Collective demand the closure of the Ocean State Power Plant. As we learned Monday, the groups assert “negative health and environmental effects.” Bolstering their demands is the fact that “the Ocean State Power Plant was cited 33 times from 2017 to 2021, mostly for excess emissions of nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide, and for not having working equipment to detect these excesses.” (Uprise RI)
  5. North Attleboro residents can now receive free filtered water. The water kiosk opened Monday at 49 Whiting Street in the wake of the discovery of PFAS in the water supply. The EPA explains that PFAS are “widely used, long-lasting chemicals, components of which break down very slowly over time.” (The Sun Chronicle/paywall, EPA)
