Men With Stolen Woodworking Tools Claim To Be On 3 a.m. Bicycle Repair Errand

Todd Perry, 50, and Jacob Perry, 22, of 84 Kendrick St., Apt. 2, making a late night walk home Oct. 30 at 3 a.m. carrying woodworking tools, told Woonsocket Police Lt. Edward Cunanan they were on their way to fix a bicycle. 

Cunanan, who had spotted the pair on East School Street near WWII Memorial Park carrying what he recognized as a saw and biscuit joiner, happened to know those items are not in most bicycle repair kits. Cunanan searched them, finding a hammer in Todd's waistband and a mini-flashlight in his pocket. He also found a DVD of the movie "Electra".

Cunanan took them back to police headquarters on Clinton Street for some more questions. 

Todd claimed he owned the tools, but couldn't identify them correctly. He finally admitted that he'd taken them from the unlocked basement of a home on Park Avenue where a tenant who had recently moved had been storing them.

Police contacted the building's owner, who confirmed a tenant had recently moved out and was storing his belongings there. The owner wished to press charges.

Todd and Jacob were charged with breaking and entering, according to Cunanan's report. They will also likely be charged with larceny after police are able to contact the owner of the tools.
