RI State Police: 23 Crashes Wednesday, One Seriously Injured
A Bay State driver was seriously injured when his car hit a tree on Route 146 on Wednesday afternoon. His name is not being released.

WOONSOCKET, RI — A Bay State driver was seriously injured when his car hit a tree on Route 146 on Wednesday afternoon, state police said. The driver, whose name is not being released, was ejected. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where he was reported in serious condition late Wednesday afternoon.
According to state police, the accident happened around 1:15 p.m. in Lincoln about 200 feet north of the Old Louisquisset Pike exit ramp. The accident is still under investigation. State police say the driver was not wearing a seat belt. He appears to have lost control of his car due to weather.
Laura Meade Kirk, state police spokeswoman, said 23 crashes were reported Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., and most were due to weather. No other serious injuries were reported.
