Shoplifter Caught With Skirts in Purse, Tags and Sensors Attached
The following arrest information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Woonsocket Police Officer Enrique Sosa responded to Family Dollar on Clinton Street April 30 at about 4:26 p.m. for a report of shoplifting.
When he arrived, the manager told him that as he'd been walking toward the front of the store that day, he'd spotted three women headed out the door. The last one, the only member of the group carrying a bag, set off the loss prevention alarm as she exited.

The manager stepped outside and asked the woman back inside, asking her if she'd forgotten to pay for anything in her bag. The woman removed two skirts from her purse with tags and sensors still attached, and offered to pay for the items, which, combined, cost $16, according to Sosa's report. The manager told his staff to call police.
Sosa identified the woman as Jarlene Vanover, 63, of Woonsocket. She was arrested and charged with shoplifting, a misdemeanor.
