News was breaking that there was a shooting at Warwick’s PD department. Also, RIPTA is making winter service changes. Finally, there are more COVID tests available.

  1. On Friday, there was a shooting at the Warwick PD headquarters. According to a source talking to ABC, there were “shots fired inside the Warwick police department after someone entered the building with a knife.” Warwick FD took the individual to the hospital. (ABC)
  2. RIPTA winter service changes take effect Saturday. Locally, this means that the “Route 281 Woonsocket Flex is expanding service to include Manville.” Also, “Sunday service has been added to Route 14 between Newport, the Community College of Rhode Island, Warwick, and Jefferson Boulevard” among other locations. (RIPTA)
  3. On Friday, 400,000 additional at-home rapid COVID tests arrived in RI. This shipment brings the total to 500,000. Seventy percent of these tests go to cities and towns. The rest goes to community organizations. (Patch)
  4. Woonsocket native and former Blue Devil administrator, Tom Pincince, is now Central Connecticut State University’s next Director of Athletics. In its Friday announcement, the school highlighted his achievements. Examples include “leading the department's communications efforts and serving as Athletics spokesperson.” (CCSU)
  5. On Wednesday, Woonsocket Radio named Navigant Credit Union the Business of the Day. Located at 1280 Park Avenue, the credit union looks for ways to make customers’ lives easier. Examples include customized credit card options and mobile wallet support. (Woonsocket Radio, NavigantCU)
