  1. The Student Success Act has passed and was signed into law! It now offers all RI residents, regardless of immigration status, eligibility for in-state tuition. To qualify, students should have “attended high school for three or more consecutive years, continue to reside in the state, graduated from high school, or received a high school equivalency diploma from the state, and filed an affidavit stating that the student has filed an application for lawful immigration status.” (WPRI)
  2. Gas prices continue to get higher. In RI, the average cost is $3.26. The national average is $3.32. However, if you’re an insider, you’ll drive to Privilege Street Mobil at 100 Privilege Street. There, gas is only $3.09 a gallon. (Patch, iExit)
  3. The River Street Mill will be demolished. Located at 719 River Street, it is the old Dorado Processing Plant. The City Council will pay $349,890 to A.A. Asbestos Abatement Co., which will handle the project. (The Valley Breeze)
  4. The WWII memorial unveiling this weekend has reached out to numerous people. We have already seen pictures of the governor. However, veterans, too, responded to the memorial. They included Richard Fazzio. Others in attendance included Pat Crowley and URI emeritus Professor Scott Molloy. (@projo, @PatCrowley401)
  5. Have you always wanted to compost like a boss? How would you get started? Or, if you’ve already started, what are options you haven’t considered for upping the worm game? You’re in luck! On Thursday, the library will host Bill Baddeley, a URI master gardener since 2014, who will discuss all things composting. You may attend in person or via Zoom. Start time is 6 p.m. (Library)
