Thursday Five: Medicare Meeting, Stadium, Free Tax Help, Nixle

Medicare meeting - Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI) will host an informational Medicare meeting today at 2 p.m. at Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 194 Fortin Dr. for individuals who are about to be 65 years of age and eligible to enroll in Medicare, and for those individuals who are retiring and will no longer have health insurance coverage through an employer.  These meetings are ideal for individuals who want to learn more about initial election periods and/or the general Medicare process. It also is an opportunity to learn about the range of options available from BCBSRI. To reserve a spot or to speak with a BCBSRI representative for more information, individuals may call 1-800-505-2583.

FRCA VITA Program - Family Resources Community Action is providing FREE Income Tax Preparation forfamilies with incomes less than $51,000. All preparers are certified by the IRS, andE-filing is done for fast returns. Appointments are available at Family Resources Community Action, 245 Main St., on the following days:

• Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 12:30 to 4.30 p.m. Tuesdays: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
• Fridays: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Nixle - After the recent snowstorm the Woonsocket Police and Fire Department  want to send a reminder about Nixle.  During the snowstorm residents received a phone message with information from Nixle.  We are encouraging all residents and interested parties to sign up for Nixle’s OPT IN notification alerts.  You will be able to choose what messages you want to be informed of including emergency alerts, public safety updates, or community event information. You can receive Nixle messages on your cell phone, tablet, or other device.
