Vincent P. Vitale: Former Smithfield Town Councilman, Member of Manville's Enrico Caruso Club

Longtime Greenville resident leaves many family members, including Hilda Rainone of Woonsocket.

 

Vincent P. Vitale, 91, of Greenville, a member of the Manville Enrico Caruso Club, died Saturday, March 16 surrounded by his family at the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence, according to Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home.

He was married to the late Lida C. (Rossi) Vitale for 59 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Anthony and Mary (DeRosa) Vitale. Vincent was a WWII Army Veteran and a Salesman for Nabisco for 40 years before retiring. He was elected to the Smithfield Town Council and was an active member of the Smithfield Democratic Town Committee. He was a charter member of the Enrico Caruso Club in Manville and a lifetime member of the Elks. Vincent and his wife lived in Greenville since 1961 and they enjoyed wintering in Florida for 25 years.

He leaves his children, Anthony P. and Ann Marie Vitale of Narragansett, David J. and Mary Vitale of Putnam, CT and Rosemary Preston of Providence. He was the proud Grandfather of Dina and Ted Karousos, Christopher and Amy Vitale, John and Meghan Vitale, Andrew and Monica Vitale, Peter Vitale, Lauren Vitale, Elaina Preston, Daniel Preston, and David Preston, 9 Great Grandchildren; his brother Joseph and Etta Vitale of Narragansett, and sister-in-laws Nina Vitale of Cranston, and Hilda Rainone of Woonsocket. He was the brother of the late Rose, Carl and Anthony J. Vitale.

A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip Church was held this morning, followed by a burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or at hhcri.
