Wednesday Five: School Committee, St. Patrick's Party, Free Tax Help, Nixle

School Committee - The Woonsocket School Committee meets tonight, 7 p.m. at Woonsocket Middle School, 60 Florence Dr. Among the items on their agenda are a vote on facilities fees, a presentation on wireless access for classrooms and a discussion/vote on a new finance director.
Elks St. Patrick's Day Party: The Woonsocket Elks will throw their annual St. Patrick's Day Party March 17, 12-5 p.m. (dinner is served 12-2 p.m.) The party features corned beef, freshly baked Irish bread and the Jeohane Irish Dancers. Tickets are $14 for adults, $7 for kids 12 and under, and there are only about 20 of them left, said Leo Shiel, the party's organizer for the last 20 years. There are nine available at the hall, and for more than that you'll need to call Shiel at 401-651-2985. Wednesday is the cutoff day for purchasing tickets.

Venture - All Saints Parish's Venturing Crew meeting will be held tonight at the church, 6:30 p.m. Venturing, a little known part of The Boys Scouts of America, is made up of boys and girls between the ages of 14-21. It is a non denominational leadership program where youths learn to be leaders while enjoying the company of their peers under the supervision of registered adults of BSA.
FRCA VITA Program - Family Resources Community Action is providing FREE Income Tax Preparation forfamilies with incomes less than $51,000. All preparers are certified by the IRS, andE-filing is done for fast returns. Appointments are available at Family Resources Community Action, 245 Main St., on the following days:

Nixle - After the recent snowstorm the Woonsocket Police and Fire Department want to send a reminder about Nixle. During the snowstorm residents received a phone message with information from Nixle. We are encouraging all residents and interested parties to sign up for Nixle’s OPT IN notification alerts. You will be able to choose what messages you want to be informed of including emergency alerts, public safety updates, or community event information. You can receive Nixle messages on your cell phone, tablet, or other device.
