We're halfway through the week, and all done with winter, according to the calendar:

School Committee - The Woonsocket School Committee will meet this afternoon for a closed session discussing litigation, convening an open session public meeting at 3:50 p.m., at the McFee Administration Building, 108 High St., first floor conference room, according to their agenda. The sole item on the open session agenda is: Review/Discussion with the Woonsocket Education Finance Department of the FY14 Budget.

FRCA VITA Program - Family Resources Community Action is providing FREE Income Tax Preparation forfamilies with incomes less than $51,000. All preparers are certified by the IRS, andE-filing is done for fast returns. Appointments are available at Family Resources Community Action, 245 Main St., on the following days:
- Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 12:30 to 4.30 p.m. Tuesdays: 4 to 6:30 p.m.
- Fridays: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Nixle - After the recent snowstorm the Woonsocket Police and Fire Department want to send a reminder about Nixle. During the snowstorm residents received a phone message with information from Nixle. We are encouraging all residents and interested parties to sign up for Nixle’s OPT IN notification alerts. You will be able to choose what messages you want to be informed of including emergency alerts, public safety updates, or community event information. You can receive Nixle messages on your cell phone, tablet, or other device.
