Woonsocket Police Arrest Man for DUI After St. Patrick's Day Crash
The following information was provided by the Woonsocket Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

On St. Patricks' Day at about 10:30 p.m., Maxim Pariset, of 47 Elizabeth Ave., North Smithfield crashed his car on the front lawn of 636 South Main St., told police he didn't want an ambulance ride, and got a cruiser ride instead.
When Officer Joseph Brazil arrived on the scene for the call, he found Maxim's heavily damaged car resting on the front lawn of the South Main Street home.

Standing by the drivers side door of the car was an off-duty detective who had heard the crash and responded, finding Pariset in the drivers seat with the engine still running, according to Brazil's report.
Brazil spoke with Pariset, who said he was returning from a party at a friend's house, where he had had three beers. Brazil reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol coming from the man's breath as he spoke, slurring his speech.

Pariset agreed to a sobriety test, which he failed, effecting an inauspicious start by nearly falling from the car while getting out. Brazil reported he had to support Pariset to prevent him from falling, then escorted him, stumbling, to the sidewalk for the tests.
Pariset's eyes failed to make a smooth pursuit and failed to walk a straight line, using his arms for balance during the test, according to Brazil's report. He agreed to take a portable breath test, showing a result of .185.
Pariset was arrested and transported to Woonsocket Police Headquarters at 242 Clinton St., where two other breath tests showed results of .200 and .202. He was charged with driving under the influence, first offense, blood alcohol greater than .15.
