Yvonne (Durand) Dubois: School Lunch Worker, Lifelong City Resident

Woonsocket woman died Nov. 11 at Holiday Retirement Home in Lincoln.

 

Yvonne (Durand) Dubois, 93, of the Holiday Retirement Home in Lincoln, died Sunday , Nov. 11, according to Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home.

She was married to the late Lionel Pete Dubois for 68 years.

Born in St. Edmond, Province of Quebec, Canada, she was a daughter of the late Frederic and Marie (Durand) Durand. She moved to the United States with her family when she was 4.

A lifelong Woonsocket resident until moving to the retirement home last month, Mrs. Dubois worked at various textile mills and then in the Woonsocket School Department lunch program until retiring 31 years ago.

She most enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Gertrude Sweeney of Florida, Constance Farago of Califronia, Jane Dubois of Cranston; a son, Paul R. Dubois of Cumberland, sports editor for the Valley Breeze; two sisters, Estelle Lachapelle of Lincoln and Cecile Lebrun of Colorado; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. She was also the sister of the late Lucien, Achille, Raymond, Leo, Phillippe, Mederic, Joseph and Alcide Durand, Donalda Jacques, Annette Turcotte and Rosa Theroux.

Funeral services under the direction of Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home will be private and at the convenience of the family.
