SPRINGFIELD, VA — Burlington Stores Inc. will be opening a new store at Springfield Town Center in 2023, joining Lego Discovery Center and other new tenants at the shopping center.

PREIT, owner of Springfield Town Center, signed a lease with Burlington for a new 30,000-square-foot store at the shopping center, the company said Thursday. Burlington Stores, an off-price retailer headquartered in New Jersey, has other locations across Northern Virginia.

PREIT, a publicly traded real estate investment trust, said it wants to turn Springfield Town Center into a “preeminent family entertainment destination” in the D.C. area.

“As part of this transformation, unanimous approval from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors was recently obtained for the development of 460 apartments and a 165-room hotel, paving the way for the sale of land parcels to developers,” PREIT said.

Springfield Town Center is anchored by Target, JCPenney, Macy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Regal Cinemas.
