Escaped Inmate Captured At VA Hotel After 2 Months On The Loose

An inmate who escaped custody more than two months ago while at a hospital near Richmond was apprehended Wednesday morning in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — An inmate who escaped custody more than two months ago while at a hospital near Richmond was apprehended Wednesday morning in Springfield, according to police.

Naseem Roulack, 21, was serving a 13-year sentence on charges of aggravated malicious wounding, grand larceny, and hit-and-run when he escaped from the supervision of two security officers while seeking medical treatment at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Henrico County early in the morning of Aug, 12, according to police and the Virginia Department of Corrections.

At about 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Roulack was apprehended at a hotel in the 6700 block of Commerce Street in Springfield by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force and Fairfax County Police Department.

When arresting officers knocked on his hotel door, Roulack attempted to flee by jumping from a third-floor window with an assault rifle, injuring his arm and dropping the gun, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

After a short foot chase, Roulack was taken into custody and given medical attention. He was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.

“I want to thank the U.S. Marshals Service, Virginia State Police, Fairfax County Police Department and other local, state and federal law enforcement partners for their tireless efforts assisting the VADOC’s Investigators and Officers in the effort to recapture this inmate,” Chadwick Dotson, director of the Virginia Department of Corrections, said in a statement Wednesday.

Roulack was serving a 13-year sentence for charges of aggravated malicious wounding, grand larceny and hit-and-run when he escaped custody, according to police.

He is also facing kidnapping, armed robbery, armed carjacking, first-degree assault and vehicle theft charges for a Sept. 1 incident in Gaithersburg, Maryland, that occurred when he was on the loose.
