Lego Discovery Center Sets Opening Date For Springfield Attraction

The new Lego Discovery Center Washington, D.C. in Springfield has set an opening date for its 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — The new Lego Discovery Center Washington, D.C. at Springfield Town Center will be opening in August, the company said Monday, giving families 32,000-square-feet of indoor space to play.

The company invited the public to sign up for its newsletter for access to pre-sale tickets. Tickets will cost $28.99 per person and will go on sale Thursday, June 15. Lego Discovery Center is recommending that people purchase tickets in advance of every visit.

“The Grand Opening for LEGO Discovery Center Washington, D.C. is August 9th! Be one of the first families to visit us from Thursday, August 10th through Sunday, August 13th with a 'First to Play' ticket,” Lego said.

The attraction was co-created by Merlin Entertainment and the Lego Group. It will be accessible near the main entrance to Springfield Town Center at the Grand Court. Springfield Town Center is located at 6500 Springfield Mall in Springfield.

There are 27 Lego Discovery Centers around the world, 14 of them in the U.S.

"We are so so SO excited you and your family are ready to create, build and play at next-gen LEGO Discovery Center Washington, D.C.!" the company said. "From an interactive Mini World and master classes with our team of Master Model Builders, to a 4D cinema, Imagination Express train ride and state-of-the-art LEGO Space Mission experience … your imagination will run wild."

Local officials participated in a groundbreaking ceremony on Dec. 8, 2022, to celebrate the start of construction of the new Lego Discovery Center.
