Springfield Restaurant Worker Nominated For RAMMY Award

The RAMMY awards, recognizing the accomplishments of the DC region's restaurant and food service industry, announced nominees for 2022.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — A Springfield restaurant employee is up for a RAMMY award, a top honor for the restaurant and food service industry in the DC region.

RAMMY awards are open to members of the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington. Among the nominees is Nicole Burdett of Taco Bamba's Springfield location for Employee of the Year.

This isn't the first award nomination for Taco Bamba, a local taqueria chain started by Chef Victor Albisu. Albisu won the RAMMY for Chef of the Year in 2015, while Taco Bamba scored the Favorite Fast Bites award in 2019. The Springfield Taco Bamba previously won as Yasmin Orozco won the Employee of the Year category in 2020. Taco Bamba has locations in Falls Church, Ballston, Fairfax, Rockville, Springfield and Vienna. Locations in Alexandria (Landmark) and Gaithersburg will open in 2022.

The nomination ceremony for the 40th annual awards was held Tuesday night. Winners will be announced at the RAMMY Awards Gala on July 24 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Judges will decide winners for most of the RAMMY categories. The seven categories decided by a public vote will be Favorite Gathering Place of the Year, Favorite Fast Bites, Best Brunch of the Year, Outstanding Pop-Up Concept, Standout Family Meal Packages To Go, Splendid Holidays at Home and Hottest Sandwich Spot.
