Suspect In Springfield Smash-And-Grab Identified By Police: VIDEO

Fairfax County Police said they have identified a suspect in the armed robbery of a Springfield jewelry store that occurred on Sept. 20.

Lamont Marable, 25, of Maryland, is wanted for commercial robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony in connection with the robbery of Sonia Jewelers & Boutique Inc. in Springfield, police said.

SPRINGFIELD, VA— Fairfax County Police said Monday they have identified a suspect in the armed robbery of a Springfield jewelry store that occurred on Sept. 20.

Lamont Marable, 25, of Maryland, is wanted for commercial robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony in the robbery of Sonia Jewelers & Boutique Inc. in Springfield, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police also have released video of the Sept. 20 robbery of the Springfield jewelry store.

Shortly before noon on Sept. 23, two men entered Sonia Jewelers & Boutique on Backlick Road in Springfield. The first man, who police believe was Marable, was let into the store under the guise of shopping for jewelry, police said. Once inside, police said he showed a handgun and ordered employees to let the second man inside.

The two men used hammers to destroy the display cases and fled the scene in a stolen black Lexus SUV, according to police.

The police did not say if they've identified the second man.
