Fire at Milwaukee assisted living facility, 3 taken to hospital (fox6now.com) — Three people were hospitalized after a Friday night fire at a Milwaukee assisted living facility near 46th and Hampton, where firefighters rescued one trapped resident. Officials say the building’s sprinkler system quickly contained the flames and likely saved that person’s life. Milwaukee fire and police investigators are still working to determine how the blaze started.
   

2. Milwaukee Home Sales and Listings Decline in November (gmtoday.com) — If you’re house-hunting in metro Milwaukee, expect fewer listings and higher prices, with November sales down over 9% and average prices up nearly 9% from last year. A new report from the Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors warns that without thousands more homes and condos, many local families will be pushed into long-term renting and miss out on building equity.
   

3. Milwaukee Public Schools Plans Audit to Look at how it Serves Students with Disabilities (milwaukeecourieronline.com) — Milwaukee Public Schools will launch a district-wide audit of special education this March to examine how well students with disabilities are being served in classrooms across the city. Leaders hope outside reviewers’ recommendations, combined with new state funding for high-need students, will improve services, reduce harmful practices like seclusion and restraint, and create more inclusive learning environments in Milwaukee schools.
   

4. Milwaukee shooting: Family remembers 10-year-old boy killed (fox6now.com) — A 10-year-old Milwaukee boy, Zysean Owten, was fatally shot this week near Vel R. Phillips and Clarke, and family gathered Saturday to remember him. Authorities say he presumably shot himself with a friend’s firearm, and two adults have been arrested as charges head to the Milwaukee County District Attorney. Loved ones are urging city residents to securely lock up guns and use free safety locks.
   

5. Milwaukee judge on trial: Transcripts reveal questions asked to potential jurors in private (wisn.com) — A Milwaukee County judge is facing a federal jury trial, and newly released transcripts show how potential jurors were privately questioned about their impartiality before being seated. After media objections, the judge reopened the process, and 14 jurors were ultimately selected. The case centers on allegations the judge helped an undocumented immigrant avoid immigration authorities, drawing close scrutiny of how the jury was chosen.
