SANTA ROSA, CA — The Santa Rosa Fire Department said a gas leak Tuesday afternoon has closed a street in Coffey Park where homes are under construction following the Tubbs Fire in 2017. The leak was reported around 2:25 p.m. at Crestview Drive and Coffey Lane.

The leak involved a 4-inch plastic gas line in a general construction area between Dennis Lane and Crestview Drive, Assistant Fire Marshal Paul Lowenthal said.

"The impact is minimal," Lowenthal said.

Lowenthal said there have been several "dig-in" gas line breaks in the Coffey Park rebuilding area, and contractors should be sure to call PG&E's 811 number to learn the locations of underground gas lines.

One occupied home has been evacuated and police are restricting access to the end of Crestview Drive, fire officials said.

PG&E estimated the gas leak would be fixed by 5:30 p.m., Lowenthal said.
