Here are the top three stories in Healdsburg today:
- While the City of Sonoma is falling behind in its water conservation efforts, Healdsburg has pulled ahead as the best in the county. Healdsburg has shrunk its per capita water use by 36 percent from 2020 levels, according to the Sonoma Index-Tribune. Sonoma city water customers, on the other hand, have made a 15.3 percent overall reduction in water use, out of a 20 percent reduction goal. Officials say the water cutbacks by Sonoma County cities help to preserve stored water in the region’s two major reservoirs, Lake Sonoma and Lake Mendocino, during the dry season. (Sonoma Index-Tribune)
- Last night, the City of Healdsburg and Acosta Latino Learning Partnership held its first bilingual "Community Encuentro" event at the Healdsburg Library. Participants joined a conversation about how the community can "embrace the voices of all residents who live here." Mayor Osvaldo Jimenez said the event had great participation and described it as "the first step in many conversations on equity, diversity, and belonging." (Osvaldo Jimenez via Instagram)
- Corazón Healdsburg has announced the launch of its new program, AVANCE Con Su Dinero. The program is designed to help community members make informed financial decisions about their futures and their family's futures related to banking, credit, loans, budgeting, etc. Financial advisors will work with individuals one-on-one over a three-month period with a catered financial plan to meet specific goals. Locals who finish the program will receive $300 for completing AVANCE. If you are interested, you can sign up by calling (707) 615-4567. (Corazón Healdsburg via Facebook)
