Residents Remember New Clothes, Family Adventures From Easters Past
Locals shared their favorite spring holiday memories on Facebook. What are yours?

It's no coincidence that the egg is an important symbol for both Easter and Passover, celebrated this Sunday and all this week, respectively. The spring holidays are a time for rebirth, both liturgically and spiritually.
For Jews, it's the celebration of freedom; for Christians, the rebirth of Christ; and for everyone, the tossing off of winter sluggishness, cleaning out those closets and setting foot outside, refreshed and renewed.
We asked our Facebook followers in Sonoma and Napa counties this week about their favorite memories of the spring holidays. They recalled fresh clothes, family and the joy of discovery on Easter Egg hunts.

Easter Sunday with my grandparents. My new Easter clothes, my Grandpa buying all his "women" corsages to wear to church. The Easter lilies on the alter, the joy of the celebration of he has risen, and so have we!-healdsburg, Ellie Naill
My favorite memories involved waking up to huge baskets of chocolate, easter egg hunts and the pictures with the easter bunny.... -Garry Kaiser
Easter egg hunts. As a child, we'd hunt for those plastic eggs, around the house. They'd have candy or coins in them, and we'd get new stuffed bunnies each year. As a teenager, my friend's family hid real eggs on their property. The eggs had been colored, and had values written on them. As high as $25! I made a killing one year. Coloring eggs and doing hunts with my kids was fun, too. One year, we went to an Easter Egg hunt on the field at Candlestick Park. That was cool. -Ramón Vera

Taking my first train down to SB to camp on the beach with cousins from Monterey who's son was going to UCSB. Adventures aplenty! From the solo-train ride, the tent opening to the ocean, to the cake made in the Dutch oven... Great times, great food, great family, and great memories! -Ronda Black
