Here are the top three stories in Healdsburg today:
- Sonoma County has launched a new pilot program that will provide guaranteed income to 305 low-income families. The County has teamed up with Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Petaluma, and a coalition of community groups to launch the Pathway to Income Equity program. 305 families will be provided a guaranteed minimum income of $500 a month while the county studies the program's impacts on reducing poverty and promoting economic stability and mobility. Applications are being accepted now through midnight on Oct. 31. (Sonoma Valley Sun)
- Due to the approval of an updated booster, the administration of COVID-19 booster shots is temporarily on hold in Sonoma County. On Wednesday, the California Department of Public Health advised providers to stop administering the original boosters after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the new booster formula for people 12 and older and removed the authorization for the original vaccine for booster doses for the same age range. The county expects to receive the new vaccine starting next week after the boosters obtain all regulatory approvals. (Sonoma County)
- The City of Healdsburg is looking for volunteers for its Foss Creek Clean-Up! The clean-up event, which takes place at the Healdsburg Community Center on Sep. 24 at 8:30 a.m., provides an opportunity for residents to participate in the maintenance and protection of waterways by removing trash and debris from Foss Creek. Volunteers will be treated to breakfast and lunch. To sign up for the event, contact Ben Kageyama at bkageyama@healdsburg.gov. (Healdsburg.gov)
