Windsor Resident Struck In Crosswalk Dies In Hospital
A woman struck by a car last month while walking her dog has died from the injuries she suffered.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A woman who was struck by a vehicle in Windsor last month has died, the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. Marie Root, 64, of Windsor, was crossing Starr Road in a crosswalk at the intersection of Windsor River Road with her dog around 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 28 when she was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 38-year-old Windsor resident, the sheriff's office said.
The driver was traveling west on Windsor River Road and stopped at a stop sign, then turned left onto Starr Road where she struck Root, the sheriff's office said. The driver remained at the scene and there was no
indication she was impaired at the time.
Root suffered significant injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The Sonoma County coroner's office was informed Monday that Root died of her injuries.

The sheriff's office will send its completed report of the collision to the Sonoma County District Attorney's Office for review, sheriff's Sgt. James Percy said.
